Pasted Graphic 2

The Union County Court House (the 3rd) was erected in 1899 in Blairsville, Georgia. The cost was $12,000. and was paid for by taxes in one year. It was built in the Romanesque style, popular at the time. Bricks for the Court House were made and fired locally. Several courthouses in Georgia were built to the same plan with different embellishments. Our courthouse is one of three that survive. The Court House was erected under the leadership of of a Special Board of Commissioners. The Court House was restored recently as a museum and cultural center by the Union County Historical Society.

All of the Special Commissioners
were Confederate Veterans.
